Peugeot electric cars used: e-208 and e-2008 guide

Peugeot electric cars used buying guide: e-208, e-2008 and e-308 battery health, charger faults, real range and resale value.

· 7 min read

Used Peugeot electric cars, mainly the e-208 and e-2008, are attractive budget EVs: good-looking, well equipped and cheaper than most rivals on the used market. Their weak point is the onboard charger, which has failed on many Stellantis EVs and costs thousands out of warranty. Test AC charging on every car, check battery health and price them against the PureTech petrol versions buyers will compare.

Which Peugeot electric cars are on the used market?

Peugeot's electric cars on the used market are the e-208 supermini and the e-2008 small SUV, both launched in 2019–2020, joined later by the e-308 hatch and estate and, in smaller numbers, the e-Rifter and e-Expert vans and the newer e-3008. The e-208 and e-2008 share the e-CMP platform and drivetrain with the Opel Corsa-e and Mokka-e, the Citroën ë-C4 and the DS 3 E-Tense.

Model Years Battery and motor Notes
e-208 (first version) 2019–2023 50 kWh battery, 100 kW motor Most common used Peugeot EV; around 340 km WLTP
e-208 (updated) 2023 on 51 kWh usable, 115 kW motor Up to 400 km WLTP
e-2008 2020 on Same drivetrain as e-208, updated in 2023 SUV body, slightly shorter range
e-308 / e-308 SW 2023 on Larger battery, different platform Still rare used

DC rapid charging on the e-208 and e-2008 goes up to 100 kW. The standard onboard charger handles 7.4 kW AC; an 11 kW three-phase charger was optional, which matters to buyers with three-phase wallboxes.

Is a used Peugeot e-208 reliable?

A used Peugeot e-208 is generally reliable in its motor and battery, but the onboard charger is a well-documented weak point. Since 2019, owners of Peugeot, Opel, Citroën and DS EVs on this platform have reported onboard chargers that fail, leaving the car unable to charge on AC wallboxes and public AC posts while DC rapid charging still works.

According to reporting by the specialist publication New Mobility in March 2025, the faulty unit was supplied by Mahle and fitted to at least ten Stellantis EV models, including the e-208 and e-2008; Stellantis switched supplier in 2024. Out-of-warranty repairs were reported at up to €5,000, and some owners waited weeks for diagnosis and parts.

What this means for you:

  1. Test AC charging on every car before you bid or as a condition of purchase. A car that only charges on DC has a failed or failing onboard charger.
  2. Ask whether the charger has been replaced and by which part number; a replacement under warranty is a selling point.
  3. Check remaining warranty. A car still under manufacturer warranty carries much less risk.
  4. Price the risk in on older cars out of warranty.

Other checks: 12-volt battery condition, infotainment and the i-Cockpit display, tyres and front suspension on cars that have lived in cities.

Do Peugeot EVs have charger problems?

Yes, onboard charger failures are the most common serious fault on Peugeot EVs built on the e-CMP platform. The fault typically shows as an AC charge that stops, does not start or throws an error, while DC rapid charging still works. Some owners have had the charger replaced more than once.

The problem is not limited to Peugeot. The Opel Corsa-e and Mokka-e, Citroën ë-C4 and DS 3 E-Tense use the same technology, so the same check applies when you buy any of them.

What range do the e-208 and e-2008 give?

The e-208 gives around 340 km WLTP in its original 50 kWh form and up to 400 km after the 2023 update, which in real driving means roughly 220–300 km in mild weather. The e-2008 is less aerodynamic and heavier, so expect about 10–15% less.

Range on a used car also depends on:

  • Battery state of health. Peugeot's battery warranty covers 70% of capacity for 8 years or 160,000 km. Get a health report; our EV battery health check guide explains how.
  • Heat pump. Fitted to some versions, it helps winter range noticeably.
  • Tyres and wheel size. Larger wheels on GT versions cost range.

How do Peugeot EV residuals compare?

Peugeot EV residuals are low compared with the petrol versions, mainly because new EV prices fell and the market is full of similar Stellantis EVs. That makes them cheap to buy, and the margin depends on avoiding a car with a failing charger.

According to listings tracked by MyCarDealer in October 2026, median asking prices in the European countries we follow were:

Model Years Fuel Listings Median price Median mileage
e-208 2020–2022 Electric 173 €15,950 55,200 km
e-2008 2020–2022 Electric 165 €17,380 63,900 km
208 PureTech 2020–2022 Petrol 1,061 €11,500 63,800 km

The e-208 sold for about €4,450 more than a petrol 208 of the same age. In the Netherlands and Germany, where most used e-208s are, the medians were both €16,750; for the e-2008, €16,937 in the Netherlands and €17,470 in Germany. Petrol 208s ranged from €9,104 in Poland and €9,999 in Spain to €12,995 in the Netherlands and €12,680 in Germany.

e-208 or 208 PureTech: which should you stock?

Stock the e-208 for buyers who can charge at home and drive mainly locally, and the petrol 208 for everyone else. The question buyers ask is whether the extra €4,000–5,000 pays off; for a commuter with home charging it often does, while a buyer without a charger is better served by the petrol car.

The petrol 208 has its own risk: the 1.2 PureTech engine with its oil-bathed timing belt. Stellantis extended cover for affected PureTech engines to 10 years or 175,000 km under conditions from March 2024. Our guide to Peugeot 208 PureTech problems explains what to check. An e-208 avoids that risk but brings the charger question instead.

Which Peugeot EV should a dealer buy?

The best Peugeot EV for most dealers is a 2023-on e-208 with the larger battery and 115 kW motor, or an earlier e-208 or e-2008 with a replaced onboard charger and warranty left. Buyers like the design and equipment, and the e-2008's higher seating position widens its appeal to older buyers.

If you stock small EVs from several brands, compare the e-208 with the Renault Zoe and Megane E-Tech; see our guide to Renault electric cars used and our overview of small electric cars for used stock.
